WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama launches a new effort on Monday to build business and social ties to the Muslim world, but analysts say the need for progress on big issues like Middle East peace will overshadow the initiative.
Obama hosts a two-day Presidential Summit on Entrepreneurship that will bring together about 250 successful business and social entrepreneurs from more than 50 countries, most with large Muslim populations, fulfilling a pledge he made in his Cairo speech to the Islamic world last June.

Washington — Partnerships between the United States and Arab and Muslim communities, inspired by President Obama’s vision in his June 2009 Cairo speech, dominated the agenda at the Entrepreneurship and Public Diplomacy Luncheon, held April 29 at a Washington hotel.
Solving social challenges, shaping public policy
A few weeks ago, my social enterprise consulting start-up was nominated for the 2010 World Technology Award in Social Entrepreneurship by the World Technology Network. Although I was delighted, I was concerned about the social challenges plaguing Muslims in the MENASA (Middle East North Africa South Asia) region.
